  1. I've felt so embarrassed in my entire life by this incident. When I was in College, I had my Political Science test and couldn't study well for it, so I had kept my textbook in the lower chamber of the desk to cheat(if might required). The test was going well but I could not remember the answer of only one question, which I don't even remember now and that was a 5 points question, I didn't want to lose those 5 points so I opened the textbook and started copying the answer. Suddenly when I was about to finish with the test, my teacher was looking at me, She obviously knew that I was cheating and I knew I was screwed but I tried to remain calm and inserted the book in another textbook that was lying besides the Political Sc. textbook but that was too late. My teacher had seen this and he drew a big round 0 and cancelled my paper. At that time I was like, I should've studied, further she asked me to leave the class up for the rest of the test duration.

I still remember that day but since then I had learned my lesson.

    1. So I guess I'll have to keep a good eye on you during tests...

      Nice writing.

I like your passive voice here:
"and I knew I was screwed"
Here's my question: Screwed by whom? Life? Your teacher? Or yourself?

  2. In our culture, we only use chopsticks and spoon to eat. The first day I came to the US, my aunt took me to the restaurant. She ordered beefsteak and spaghetti. She asked me that I can use fork and knife. Although I didn't know how to use them, I said yes. Finally, I was clumsy to cut and eat. Everyone around the room looked at me that I was an idiot. I wish there was a hole to hide.My aunt should have taken me to a Vietnamese restaurant. I should have told the truth. I should have asked the chopsticks.

  3. I love to start conversation every time I meet a new people who have a different culture and I would like to ask question about the culture. However, my questions sometimes are embarrassed the people who ask. Once I met a man who is from the U.S and I started to talking with him about a diversity of subjects. He started ask me about low in Saudi Arabia and if we have a law protects minority in my country and I said" Yes, he have. After that he asked me about gays and their rights in Saudi Arabia. I was very excited to tell him my opinion which is against gays rights. I told him we don't have this rights and if you are gay in Saudi Arabia we will go jail!. He was very depressed because my voice and body language Implies I'm with this law and I don't like gays. In contrast, I shouldn't have said what I said. I couldn't have talked in a diplomatic way which we don't feel offensive from me. I could have talked in other issues that he would feel offended by me. In conclusion, I shouldn't do what I have done and I should be more curious about people.

either--my questions sometimes embarrass the people whom I ask.
OR, my questions are sometimes embarrassing to the people whom I ask.

Well, Khalid, this seems to be a very big lesson that you learned about being sensitive to people whose behavior/religions/beliefs are different from yours. One of the best aspects of living in a democracy is that minorities are protected and that one's private business is private.

Although of course it depends on how close you feel with people, the general rule is to avoid sex and politics in polite conversation.

  4. When i was a child i first began my education in a french school. At the time the school was called ''Allicance Francese''. It was one of the best schools in my country, Angola, and all the kids from the majority groups of my country where at this school or the Portuguese school. So one day, i was in class and the teacher asked who knew how to say strawberries in french. No one could answer, so there i was sitting whit my hand up asking for a shot, my teacher called and asked me to tell in front of the class what was the answer. When i opened my mouth the word came out ''MORANGOS''. Everyone in the class was laughing, i didn't understand first why, my thoughts were ''why are you guys laughing you didn't even know the answer''; when i turned around and i saw the word that my teacher was writing on the board and it was ''fraise''. When she called me she wrote immediately the word. Morangos is actually the portuguese word to say strawberries and i used it with a french accent. So definitely it was the most embarrassing moment in my life, i just wished i could disappear at that moment. I should have waited for the teacher to answered. XD

    1. No risk, no reward. If you don't jump in the water, you don't get to swim. So I hope you jump in many, many more times and to hell with being embarrassed :D

  5. One day, I was with my family at the mall when we decided to eat something. We went to a small restaurant located inside of the mall. After we had dinner we started to remember funny stories from the past especially when we were children. Suddenly one of my cousins said something very funny just when I was drinking water with ice, the problem was that one big ice got stuck in my throat and I wasn’t able to talk and breath! So I got panic and started to jump because they didn’t notice what was happening. Finally the ice melt just when I was trying to cough. One of my cousins said that I was doing like a cat trying to spit a hairball. It was a very embarrassing moment, I could have been more carefully while I was drinking the water and they should have helped me instead of making laugh.

  6. I should have stopped when the traffic light was yellow. Two years ago, at night, I was driving to go back my home after school. When I was through a overpass, I would turn left. Before a few seconds I arrived under the overpass, the traffic light became yellow. I looked around four ways, there was not cars coming. I though I could pass this intersection and did not need to waste time waiting. When I almost passed, suddenly, I saw a motorcycle was coming to me. Immediately, I stepped the break, then my car was almost stopped. However, the rider did not stop to continue forward, and then he crashed my car by 60km/per hour. I saw he flew up my car, and dropped the passage beside. I really need to thanks God, because he is still alive.
