Today each of you briefly introduced yourselves to the class. Now I
would like you to tell us some more about yourself in writing.
Here are some questions to consider:
Where
are you in life (meaning, what stage)? Did you finish high
school? College? Graduate school? Talk about your background,
and your professional and personal aspirations. Also, discuss your
interests, hobbies, and talents. Tell us something about yourself
that makes you unique. Feel free to add anything else that you would
like to share about yourself with the class.
You should post your writing as a comment to this post. Just click on comment.
This is writing PRACTICE. It does not have to be perfect.
My name is Diem Phan. I was born and grew up in a rural district in Vietnam. That's why I'm shier than my friends. I've never thought that I'll be in the US,but at present, I'm studying at University of Houston. Although I graduated college and had a stable job in a high school, my desire is help my family have a better life. Coming to the US would be a mark that my life have changed. I have no talent, but some people said I'm good at listening to someone patiently. After class, I usually help my uncle at his store. I like cooking although i don't know how to cook before. Also, I like watching TV, especially Disney Channel. That's something about me.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this with us. Being a good listener is something very special. I look forward to getting to know you more during this term.
DeleteI'm Petra! Born in Zimbabwe-Harare, but raised in Angola-Luanda. I just finished my graduation from college in a University called University of Lusiada from Angola. I did Human Resources (HR) for 4 years. I worked for sometime during my degree at human resources and it was the best choice ever, it helped me to choose either continue or not, in HR. I came to US to continue my Master in Human resources and perhaps, who knows, if i get a great opportunity work and live here after i finish. My parents don't have much in life, so my inspiration comes from them, i really wanna be able to do something for my family, especially my mom and my little sister, i'm everything they got. I'm a person who doesn't like to do a self evaluation, i prefer to let people know me and make there conclusion's, but i can say that i'm a person who always tries the best to be perfectionist and to achieve the goals that i set to myself. I'm a social person but sometimes i can be the worst social person ever, i like to hang out with friends, party, discos, beach, camping, i'm a very curious person (for some things), i'm addicted to movies, i love animals and i consider myself a funny person. :D
ReplyDeletePetra, you wrote:

Wow! That's a big burden to shoulder! But only having known you for a few days, I think you can handle it.
I consider you a funny person also, especially after your debut performance yesterday!
Good writing; thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your writing this term.
I'm Diem, was born in Hochiminh city, Vietnam. I've graduated university for few years, with the major of tourism management. But since i graduated, i've worked in Sales & Marketing field. Sometimes, i worked as tour guide as part time job, i like this part time job, it allows me to travel to many places in vietnam and meet many people from other countries, so I had chance to understand different cultures. My previous job is to work in Marketing Department of a french company specializing in retail, i love this job, it's dynamic and always need new ideas. I would love to have my own business, so i decided to go to US to learn Finance, i'll try to get internship or work in US for a short time to learn practical experiences, then i'll go back to my country and focus on my goal. The slogan of my life is "do anything i want, just go ahead, as long as i don't bother all the others". I love hang out with friends, party, travel, beach, mostly out door activities.
ReplyDeleteWow! You have had many wonderful experiences so far in your life. I'd like to know more specifically what you did as a tour guide. Diem, you sound like a person who makes the most out of every opportunity; I admire that so much.
DeleteHi Holly! I really appreciate your comments, that encourages me a lot. About my job as a tour guide, at first i worked for a travel agency and they send tourists to me, i was a tour guide in english and french, i guides tourists mostly around Hochiminh city and Mekong Delta. And then, i found a webside which allowed me to create my own tour to present to tourists who visit the website and they took a part of each tour that i sell to tourists. So i started to work for myself. But i just do this job during weekend or i take some days off of the current job.
DeleteWow, I am really impressed, first with your being a tour guide for your city/country and then for your starting your own touring company. That shows a lot of drive and initiative. I hope one day I can come to Vietnam and experience your tour. You are awesome!

ReplyDeleteWell, I hope you have a good and productive semester, Yang! I think it is true that "the doctor's road is really hard" but you don't have to get there all at once... step by step, one day at a time.

I can say I like adventures but I like to go by my rhythm enjoying the nature. I hate hurry people in this kind of activities. In conclusion I can say that I am a nice and calm person who always try to see the positive aspect of everything.

I am a graduate student, and International Business was my major. When i studied fourth grades in the university, i started to join my family's company. I worked full-time three months before i came to the United States. I enjoyed this time, even i cloud not go out with my friends. I acquired some of important skills and experiences which i never knew. Let me talk special things about myself, i can't stand any dirty thing, specially the kitchen room and bathroom. If i feel my place is dirty, i crazy about cleaning. I have to move everything to clean. I have a unique talent which changes the pronunciation of Chinese words. However, so far i never did them in the U.S. Traveling different countries one time in a year is my goal. I am glad that i could achieve my goal since i graduated form university. Finally, after passing level 6, i will go back my city to hard work. Opening a coffee shop is my first dream. I wish that i will have a coffee shop after five years. Above of all, those are a few about myself. Thank you for your reading.
